Brianne Yhlen was voted by the Board as the new Youth Advisor in June. More from her in August newsletter... she will be contacting all youths soon with her plans however shortly.

May 2008

Youth Corner...I am printing Tami Martin's email that she mailed to me after the board meeting and wanted me to print in the newsletter. I hope that it prints because I have some reservations about the type face being easy to read. Anyway, here it is and I sure that all of us will miss her and wish her well in all of her activities.

My Last Youth Report

By Tami Martin

This is my last Youth report as your youth advisor. It has been a pleasure serving as the Youth leader for the past 4 yrs. We have done some pretty fun projects over the years and I have enjoyed getting to know all of you and your families. I know our club will find a fine replacement for me and I’ll probably bring Skylar to some meetings. I want to thank all of the families for helping me with all of our projects and supporting me in this position. When I originally told Kim Verhage that I wanted to do this job 4 years ago, I was not running a business at the time and Skylar was little. I was so excited when I was appointed to this position because I knew I could provide the youth members with fun educational activities, and I did. Now I have a thriving business and we are currently renovating my ranch and my attention is not on our youth as it should be. I hope you all can understand and welcome your new advisor when they are selected. Thank you all for coming to my meetings and I will see you at the shows! We’ll be rooting for you!

April 2008

Tami reports that last month the youth worked on getting their creative contest submissions ready for June 1st and also what projects they would like to do this year and what type of booth they would like to have at the club BBQ. The meeting this month will be April 28th at 6:30 pm - unfortunately Tami didn't say where!!!!! Give Tami a call (951-698-4302) for location! They will discuss good sportsmanship at this meeting and what it means....they will apply this to how they can make Taylor Hay's struggle with cancer easier_ (Her Mom is trainer Debbie Brit Hay from Ramona).

March 2008

Lindsey Harris gave a youth report and they are planning on setting up a schedule for 2008 activities. Everyone has been so busy with the first 2 shows that they are now getting together. Also, Lindsey and her friend Brittany Yearling will be working at the March horse show all 4 days. With Scottsdale out of the way hopefully Tami and her youth will be back in the swing of things with some neat activities.

November 2007

The October meeting was held at the Pizza Factory in Temecula on the patio. The weather was great!

Brie Yhlen spoke to our group about the importance of being properly fitted, and proper accessories in hunt seat. Her tailor, Christine, came to our meeting and began fitting the childrens show clothes. This was a very informative program and quite beneficial for the moms not knowing where to go to get their childrens show clothes altered. Gloria from the Region 1 club also came and briefed us on the discussions for Youth Nationals next year. She will be collaborating with Kathy Callahan-Smith on an up coming clinic. We will keep you informed as to particulars as we know them.

We want to thank our our officers for their efforts this year, and commend those members who have shown outstanding leadership and perseverance in the pursuit of representing the Arabian horse and out club this year nationally. Alana Hansen was one of our Delegates this year at Youth Nationals and won top honors at the Breyerfest in Kentucky. She won the Reserve Championship in the Breyer Creative writing contest. She went Reserve Champion in the Hypology contest at Nationals. She had an outstanding year and we commend her on this. We also want to acknowledge Erica Jones for receiving top honors in the Hypology contest, and also went Top Ten in the Judging contest held at youth Nationals as well. We have many of our youth members who have won outstanding awards nationally this year and I wish I could name them all. Congratulations to you all on your accomplishments!

As the holiday season draws close we have only one more meeting this year and we want it to be special so we will be contacting you soon to arrange for the details. If you want to contact me as always my number is 851-696-4302, our meetings are held on the last Monday of the month and if you are wanting to come in a meeting and I haven't contacted you, call me!

Best Wishes, Tami Martin

October 2007

Youth News…this report is in from Tami Martin…. She emailed that the Youth was going to have a meeting at Rancho Pacifica on De Portola on the 24th of September at 6:30 PM and that Brie Yhlen would be giving a demo on braiding your horse!    This is something that all kids need to learn and is rewarding when you can see the results of your hard work look so nice on your horse too.  They all had pizza to eat too after the demo….

April 2007

Youth Elections...the youth completed their officer elections in March and they are as follows:

  • President: Lindsey Harris

  • Vice President: Brandon Jones

  • Secretary: Erika Jones

  • Treasurer: Skylar Martin

  • President's Assistant: Alana Hansen

Patrick Feather also joined at that meeting and they welcomed him. Tami reports that they have some fun things coming this year so "stay tuned".
